"Migraine" Pills part IV

Ready for Ian to get some superpowers? Super short chapter, cuz mah motivation sux rn

Ian woke up slowly to the sound of what seemed like small earthquakes. Trying to get up, he realized where he was. Still in his brother's giant pencil case. Still trapped by an eraser three times heavier than he was. The earthquakes must be Cole getting ready for school. He looked down at his broken arm. This was it. This was how he was going to die. At the hands of his giant, unaware, little brother. Or maybe from bleeding out from an ugly gash in his back that he got from a freakin pencil. Or maybe his legs might die from lack of blood flow.

But Ian knew there was another option. He had been thinking about it all night wondering if the risk was worth taking. The five most prominent words in his mind right now screamed at him to end this. It was worth taking a risk. He was going to die anyways, so why not take the chance. Sliding his good hand into his pocket he brought out the packet of pills. Flipping it over on it's back, he wondered how such a tiny packet of pills that was the perfect size for an inch high person could have gotten into his hand last night. The words were still there. The same five words staring at him.

Trust me. This will help.

Taking a deep breath, Ian decided to do what all his instincts screamed at him not to do. Ripping open the magically resealed package, he picked out a pill and threw it in his mouth while putting the opened package in his pocket. Instantly, he was hit with a fiery, extra spicy flavor. He had been expecting it to taste sweet like the last time he ate them, but instead, this time it was like eating a next level atomic fireball.

The flavor was so strong and spicy, it was literally painful, and Ian could’ve swore he  smelt the rancid smell of burnt flesh coming out of his mouth. Unlike last time, where the pills dissolved easily and were sweet, these pills literally had smoke pouring out of Ians mouth and was impossible to chew through or swallow.

After a few minutes of excruciating pain, it ended suddenly. The pill was digested and Ian felt better instantly. He felt like he could pick up a mountain and throw it, and he no longer felt so depressed about what was going to happen next. Then, Ian noticed something odd. His back and arm didn’t hurt anymore! He could also feel his legs again! The pills acted just like a health potion in a video game!

Reaching into his pocket to examine the pills closer, he realized that his pocket was empty. The pills had disappeared. Digging further in his pocket, then checking his other pocket before checking the first pocket again, Ian was in awe. Things didn’t just disappear! But then again, he was barely an inch high.

When Ian was looking for the pills, he accidentally bumped the eraser that was pinning his legs down. Normally that wouldn’t have been anything too astronomically world-changing, but Ian noticed that the eraser didn’t feel heavy. In fact, it felt pretty light. Confused, Ian reached over with one hand and after getting a good grip on it, easily lifted the eraser that should have weighed maybe 300 pounds to him.

Smiling, Ian felt better about his predicament already as he tossed the eraser across the room sized pencil case. But the worst of his troubles were far from over when he felt the mini earthquakes in the distance start again, this time getting closer and louder. The earthquakes were soon getting so loud that Ian could hardly believe that they were his brother’s footsteps when the chamber of a pencil case he was in suddenly vaulted upwards at a million miles per hour and it started bumping up and down in a motion Ian would soon get to know as his brother’s walking.

The weight of the situation finally hit Ian. He was in a pencil case. The pencil case was probably in a backpack. And a backpack meant… Ian was going to be at a school. An inch high. With no one knowing he was there.

~~~
All morning, Cole worried about Ian. As usual, Cole’s dad was already out of the house and at work by the time Cole woke up. On an ordinary morning, Ian would’ve just finished cooking breakfast and would be yelling at Cole to get up already, but this was no ordinary morning.
Throwing away the burnt piece of bread with some sloppily applied jam on top he had tried to cook that morning, Cole grabbed a pop tart instead, and hurried up to his room, looking carefully at the ground, lest he step on things he didn’t want to step on, on the way.
Glancing once more to confirm that his desk was indeed empty, Cole proceeded to check every tiny nook and cranny in the house, hoping that he would somehow find Ian. After taking way longer than he should have looking for Ian, Cole reasoned that he should still go to school and that Ian either didn’t want to get found, was stuck somewhere, or… He didn’t quite want to think about that possibility yet.
Looking at his watch, he saw that he was going to be late for the bus. Making a quick decision and hoping that Ian would be waiting somewhere more visible at home by the time he got back, Cole grabbed his backpack and headed down the stairs. Looking back one last time, Cole shut the door and ran to the bus stop, barely catching it, and thinking about where Ian could’ve been.
Ian was so lucky finding those pills. I'd like to know his adventures at school full of boys, being 1 inch tall!
