"Migraine" Pills: Part I

This is my first story submitted on Giant Boy Zone Forum. Hope you guys like it! (I'm open to constructive criticism)

Ian looked at the small packet of unmarked pills in his hand. He knew that eating unknown pills was a bad idea, especially since they were given to him by a random, shady stranger on the street. He remembered walking down the street late at night towards home when suddenly he was hit by an intense migraine. Doubling over and clutching his head, the dark world suddenly turned so bright it was almost painful. His migraines were getting worse, and all the medication the doctors gave him never worked.

Nauseatingly staggering around, he suddenly heaved and vomited on the ground, losing his dinner.

Through his ringing ears he heard hurried footsteps approaching before a rough hand firmly gripped him on his shoulder. Thankful for something to lean onto, Ian feebly gripped the hand until the intense headache passed.

Looking up, he started to mumble his thanks, when he saw the man who was helping him. Cloaked in all black, the stranger wore a deep hood that hid all his features. The man merely nodded, and then handed Ian a small white packet with a note taped to the side. Creeped out by the mysterious man's imposing figure, Ian had quickly straightened up and walked away, murmuring his thanks with his head down.

Now, in his room, the fourteen-year-old looked at the pills in his hand before turning it over. He hadn't had a chance to look at the note yet, because as soon as he was out of sight, he had ran the rest of the way home. The simple, yellow paper had only three words written on it: This will help.

Wondering what the pills were supposed to help with, he came up with the conclusion that since they were handed to him after one of his worst migraines yet, they were probably supposed to cure him of the migraines.

Deciding he had nothing to lose, Ian shrugged. No other medications had helped at all with his headaches so why not give this a chance? Tugging open the thin plastic packet, he dropped the tiny white pills into his other waiting hand. Taking a deep breath, Ian tossed two of them into his mouth and after letting them rest on his tongue for a second, he swallowed them.

The pills were surprisingly flavorless and soft, dissolving in his mouth like paper in a fire. In the room next to his, he heard his little brother, Cole yelling something about needing help with his homework. Sighing, Ian tossed the rest of the pills on his nightstand and started walking towards his brothers room, when suddenly he began to feel very dizzy.

Thinking that it was another migraine coming, Ian closed his eyes and stumbled over to where his bed should have been. But after blindly falling backwards, he felt that something wasn't right. There were thick, dense columns of cloth that reached his knees and he should have been able to walk across the small room in under 3 steps.

Suddenly the dizziness cleared and Ian opened his eyes. Looking around in amazement, he saw something he never would have expected. Huge carpet fibers sprouted out of the ground like tiny dense jungle that almost reached his belly, and the ceiling seemed miles away. Looking behind him, he saw what used to be his bed, which was now the size of several entire city blocks, the bottom of the bed towering over him like a cathedral.

Looking down at himself, he was glad that his clothes had shrunk with him. He estimated that he was maybe one inch tall, give or take. Taking a deep breath, he tried to calm his racing heart and figure out what to do.

But before he had a chance to do much, he heard dampened footsteps approaching and an impossibly loud voice that Ian inherently recognized as his brother's. Watching in dumbfounded amazement, Ian looked on as the five-hundred-foot door was easily opened by the colossal ten-year-old that used to be a head and a half shorter than him.

Cole let himself into his brother's room and started to ask Ian to help him with his homework before looking around, confused, at what seemed like an empty room. Assuming that his brother had gone to the bathroom, Cole raised his voice again and before looking around one last time, walked out of the room.

Little did he know, that on the floor just a few feet in front of him was his big brother, frozen in fear and staring up at the titan. Ian was pretty tall for his age, so he was used to towering over most of the other kids, but now he was standing in front of a nearly 50 foot long appendage that belonged to his ten year old brother. Ian was frozen in fear as he took in the entirety of his little brother, which from his perspective, was enormous.

As Cole started to turn around to leave the room, Ian realized that this was probably going to be the best chance he would get in a while to get himself out of this mess. Yelling and screaming at the top of his lungs while waving his hands like a maniac, Ian mustered all his courage and ran towards the huge socked foot. Ian was pretty athletic and often ran a lot, which might have been the reason that he was able to close the gap just fast enough to launch himself onto his brother's foot. Desperately clutching the stinky, black sock, Ian was amazed that the tiny socks that just a few minutes ago would have snapped if he tried to stretch over his foot, now entirely filled his vision. Taking a deep breath, Ian tried to get a better grip when suddenly the house-sized foot launched into the sky.

Closing his eyes tightly, Ian started to regret ever thinking that this was a good idea. He felt ready to vomit out all his guts. After a chaotic few seconds, the pair of feet came to rest on the ground in Cole's bedroom and Ian promptly collapsed off of the foot and fell flat on the carpeted floor. Heaving and breathing heavily, he tried to clear the nauseating feeling from his stomach.

Cole was confused. His brother wasn't in the house. But he had clearly been there just there a few minutes ago! Sighing, Cole looked at his messy desk and the piles of unfinished homework on it. Deciding that Ian had probably left the house on an evening jog like he sometimes did, he quickly turned his attention back to his studies. He didn't know where Ian went, so maybe he should just wait until Dad and Mom got home from work.

Sighing, he grabbed a book and walked over to his bead. Math could wait, he would do his English reading first. Flicking on a light, he got comfortable in bed and opened the book he was reading for English class, The Phantom Tollbooth, and started reading.

Nearby, on the ground, Ian watched in awe as his three-hundred-fifty plus foot brother moved at speeds that should have broken the sound barrier, doing everyday stuff. At this size, where Ian could fully see the towering 10 year old, he started to really digest how small he was. It seemed like nothing imaginable could ever be bigger than the nearing 400 foot monster.

As the colossus grabbed a book the size of a building and shifted into a bed that may have well have been the size of Manhattan, Ian came up with another plan, that hopefully, would get his brother's attention.

Starting the half-mile long trek through the thick carpet fibers, it seemed like to Ian that Cole's bed was just getting further and further away and that he would never reach it.

Finally, after about half an hour of pushing aside dense columns of carpet cloth, he reached his destination where Cole's foot was luckily hanging over the side of the bed. Eyeing the uncomfortably large member, he again thought of how bad this idea was. There was a number of ways he could be easily killed by his titanic brother. Mustering his courage, Ian started to climb.

This is a great start, even though Ian is clearly an idiot for taking the pills.
