In the original novel The (Incredible) Shrinking Man the
Careys have a 5 year old daughter, Beth. In the 1957 movie
version they have no children.
If a remake were to be made maybe they could put in a giant
son, maybe 9 to 12 years old. Scott is 3 or 4 inches tall and
lives in a dollhouse.
We can then imagine, when Scott's wife Louise is at work
or elsewhere, away:
--A friend comes over.Scott's son and his friend sit cross legged on the sofa and toss Scott back and forth. At
one point one boy doesn't get his hands up in time
so Scott collides with his shirt and slides down
--Scott is placed in a remote controlled car and drives around.
The son has control and freaks out his dad with speeding up,
dangerous turns, and the car collides with the boy's
--Scott is relaxing in his dollhouse and Scott's son puts a bluetooth speaker in there. The boy turns on his phone
and loud music suddenly turns on, annoying Scott
--The boy gets the neighbor's cat (formerly Scott's)
and puts him near the dollhouse. He puts his phone
there are the action is broadcast on Facebook Live
--Scott's son puts his tiny dad in the freezer or fills the bathroom sink with water and throws him in
--Scott is just outside the dollhouse. His son walks over.
As Scott is 3 inches tall, his 10 year old son--55 inches
tall--seems 110 feet tall. It's like Indian in the Cupboard.
The son is either in socks, bare feet, or sneakers.
He freaks out his dad by holding one foot just above him and moving it slightly down...
--Scott's son uses chloroform to make his dad unconscious.
Without telling his mom, the boy has placed Scott in his
shirt pocket.Scott awakens to find himself in the pocket,
his son in class.
At lunch he is taken out and shown to classmates.
A teacher sees this and the boy gets in trouble.
You're three inches tall and standing on a table, surrounded by kids who seem over 100 feet tall. One boy opens up a bottle of soda and pours it all over you
Another possibility is Scott is walking in the big living room and the son is using the remote control car and aims it at
him. This is like one of the Minijobs ads that has the tiny
mother and the boy using a remote control car.
The original novel has a 5 year old daughter Beth who
is about 4 feet tall. She doesn't quite grasp that her dad
is shrinking--he's become like a freak, a living doll etc
During a dollhouse moment she carries him in her hand,
"the hand binding him from soldier to hip".
